On March 2, 2023, the final of the XXVI edition of the Competition for the best diploma thesis defended at the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery of the Warsaw University of Technology took place.
This year, WUZETEM has joined the group of sponsors of prizes for the finalists of the competition. The financial award was given to the author of the engineering thesis prepared under the supervision of Dr. Eng. Przemysław Szulim: “Design and implementation of a path detection and tracking algorithm for navigating an autonomous robot.” – Hubert Cienkusz.
All finalists received invitations to visit the WUZETEM production plant and sets of company gadgets. The awards were presented by Waldemar Iwanowski, Director of the WUZETEM Technical and Production Office, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery of the Warsaw University of Technology – prof. Ph.D. Eng. Piotr Przybyłowicz.
The competition for the best diploma thesis defended at the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery is organized by the Dean of the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery (SiMR) under the patronage of the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Hab. Eng. Krzysztof Zaremba. The aim of the Competition is to select and promote the best diploma theses defended at the Faculty of SiMR in the preceding academic year, evaluated with a very good grade. The criteria for the evaluation of the theses include: the innovativeness of the topic undertaken, the originality of the applied methodology, the applicability of the results of the work in the socio-economic environment, the aesthetic values of the diploma thesis.
In the first stage (qualification), the Competition Committee evaluates the files with diploma theses in digital form, downloaded from the Diploma Thesis Archive. On this basis, the selected works are qualified for the second stage (semi-final), in which the Competition Participants prepare and present posters illustrating the value of their works. The authors of the best of them are invited to the third stage (final). They then have the opportunity to give a short presentation in which they present to the Competition Committee the most important achievements achieved as part of the implementation of the diploma thesis.
